Tiwa Savage Says Female Collabs Don't Get Promoted, She Used Her Own Money to Push Her Music While Still at Mavin.
In other news, Tiwa Savage has called out the music industry's double standards, and honestly, she has receipts.

The Afrobeats superstar has addressed the long-standing criticism that she doesn't support or collaborate with female artists. She dismissed the allegations as "a lie," explaining that she has featured female acts in the past, but the songs often don't receive the same level of promotion. "When I feature female artists, they don't promote the songs. But when I collaborate with Odumodublvck, they start complaining," she said.
(nods head in agreement like Yemi Alade)

She also pointed to her relationships with Yemi Alade and Ayra Starr as examples of how she has responded when people tried to create rivalry between female artists. "When they pitted me against Yemi Alade, I brought her on my show. When they pitted me against Ayra Starr, I made a song with her," she said. Rather than feeding the competition narrative, Tiwa says she chose collaboration over rivalry.

But here is what the blogs did not tell you.

The real reason Tiwa is so passionate about the promotion gap is not because she is fighting for female solidarity, it is because during her time at Mavin Records, she often had to dip into her own pocket to fund the promotion of her female collaborations. While the label was spending millions on male artist campaigns, her songs with other women were being pushed to the side. She is not just calling out the industry, she is calling out the years she spent funding her own feminism.
Edgar doesn't lie.
