About Me

I’m Edgar Eriakha, the creator and voice behind Check Edgar.

I’m a Nigerian storyteller, entertainer, presenter, podcaster, writer, and voiceover artist with one slightly unusual obsession: creating entertainment for people who don’t even think they like content.

I believe great entertainment shouldn’t be confined to one format. It should be something you can see, read, listen to, feel, and participate in. That’s the idea behind Check Edgar, a growing entertainment world built around stories, comedy, ideas, and experiences.

I was born in Lagos and proudly Edo, and studied creative arts at the University of Lagos, where my love for performance began turning into a career. From secondary-school skits and stand-up comedy to television, theatre, film, podcasts, and digital storytelling, I’ve spent years finding different ways to make people laugh, think, and feel.

Today, I co-host Wake Up Nigeria and host the game show Quick Kash on TVC Entertainment. Before joining TVC Communications, I worked in content marketing at Connected Analytics, managed content at Krakstv, and worked as a commercial writer at Pulse Nigeria, creating campaigns and commercials for brands including Hollantex, Nescafé, Honeywell, and Facebook Nigeria.

I’ve also taken my storytelling beyond the screen. My podcast Why Am I Still Single? has passed 246,000 downloads, while my live show Laugh & Sip brings people together for comedy, stories, gist and shared experiences. Across my platforms, I’ve built a community of more than 300,000 people through videos, voiceovers, blogs, comedy, animation, and more.

My work has taken me into film, with appearances in Nigerian productions including Seven and Holy Trouble, and into theatre, where I joined Kininso Koncepts on a UK tour in 2025, performing 32 shows across six cities for young audiences. In 2026, I returned to the stage in Waterside, a two-man play with Nnamdi Agbo featuring more than 17 characters across a 90-minute performance.

I’ve been fortunate to receive the Ladies’ Man Award and Rising Star Award at the TVC Communications Awards, but I’m less interested in collecting achievements than I am in seeing what another crazy idea can become.

Because ultimately, that’s what Check Edgar is about.

Life should be fun. We all need each other. And if I can make you laugh, make you feel something, or make you think, “How did he even come up with this?” — then I’m probably doing something right.
