Story Submission Terms

Got a story that deserves to be told? We love that. These Story Submission Terms explain what happens when you send a story, confession or experience to Check Edgar through checkedgar.com, email, WhatsApp or any of our social channels.

These terms are provided by Ragde Space Limited ("we", "us" or "our") and work together with our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. By submitting a story, you agree to them.

1. Who Can Submit

You must be at least 18 years old to submit a story. By submitting, you confirm that you are 18 or older.

2. Your Story Stays Yours

You keep ownership of your story. Submitting it does not transfer your copyright to us.

However, by submitting, you give Ragde Space Limited a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to publish, edit, adapt, translate, read aloud and perform your story across Check Edgar platforms, including:

• checkedgar.com (for example, CheckMates Confessions)
• Podcasts, including Why Am I Still Single?
• CheckEdgar Radio and live shows
• Videos, skits and social media content
• Newsletters and promotional material

You can still share your story anywhere else you like.

3. What You Confirm

When you submit a story, you confirm that:

• The story is yours to share, and you are not copying anyone else’s work
• It is true, or clearly labelled as fiction or "inspired by true events"
• It does not break any law or anyone’s rights
• You have not been paid by anyone to promote a product, brand or person through it, unless you tell us

4. Protecting Real People

Real stories involve real people, so we are careful. Please:

• Change or leave out names, workplaces, addresses and other details that could identify someone
• Never include phone numbers, photos, screenshots of private chats or social media handles of other people
• Never submit a story about someone you know is under 18 in a romantic or sexual situation

We may change names and details before publishing, even if you did not ask us to, to protect everyone involved.

5. Stories We Will Not Publish

We will not publish stories that:

• Are defamatory, or accuse a real, identifiable person of a crime or wrongdoing
• Contain hate speech, harassment or bullying
• Contain sexually explicit content
• Promote violence, self-harm or illegal activity
• Reveal private information about other people
• Are copied from another writer, website or creator

6. Anonymity

You choose how you appear. When you submit, tell us if you want to be:

• Anonymous (default)
• Credited by first name or a nickname
• Credited by full name

If you do not tell us, we publish your story anonymously. We will never publish your email address or phone number.

7. Editing and Selection

We read every story, but we cannot publish all of them. We may edit stories for length, clarity, humour, grammar or legal reasons, and we may adapt them for audio, video or live formats. Submitting a story does not guarantee it will be published or featured.

8. Payment

Story submissions are unpaid unless we agree otherwise with you in writing before publishing.

9. Removal Requests

Changed your mind? Email hello@checkedgar.com with the story title and date, and we will remove it from checkedgar.com within a reasonable time.

Please note that we may not be able to remove copies already broadcast, downloaded or shared by others, or episodes already published on third-party platforms.

10. Your Personal Information

We use the details you give us when you submit (such as your name and email) only to manage your submission and contact you about it, as described in our Privacy Policy.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Story Submission Terms from time to time. Updates will be posted on this page with a revised date.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and any dispute shall be subject to the courts in Lagos State, Nigeria.
