In other news, AY has officially entered his petty era, and the internet is loving every second of it.

The comedian recently opened up about the changing economics of booking Nigerian music stars for his AY Live comedy show. He said artistes including Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, TiwaSavage, and Olamide previously performed for modest fees that mainly covered logistics. He noted that friendship and personal relationships often made it easier to secure appearances in the early days.

But the situation has changed. AY revealed that some artistes now demand as much as ₦200 million, ₦120 million, or ₦80 million to appear at the show. The financial demands have increased as the Nigerian music industry has grown and artistes have become global brands.

In response, AY has reportedly introduced a new rule: any artiste charging above ₦100 million must now perform a five-minute comedy set before their musical performance. He said if he is paying that kind of money, he wants to see range.

But here is what the blogs did not tell you.

The real reason AY is demanding comedy performances from expensive artistes is not because he wants to get his money's worth, it is because he is secretly working on a new show called ‘’AY Live: The Comedy Challenge’’, where musicians compete to see who is funniest. He has already reached out to Davido and Burna Boy, but neither has responded. He is not fighting the rates, he is pitching a new format.
