In other news, Adekunle Gold has finally revealed what he believes killed his last album, and the finger is pointing directly at Davido.
During an interview with One 54 Africa, Adekunle Gold opened up about his relationship with Davido and the collaboration that started it all. He explained that they first linked up when he made the song "High," saying,
"I remember when I wrote the song, I just knew that it sounded like he needed to be on the song. So I reached out to him, and then he came to LA."

He admitted he had always admired Davido from afar, saying,
"I had always seen him from afar and said, 'This guy looks like a real guy, a people person.'"
But it was in the studio that the friendship truly formed.
"When we did the song in the studio, it was even more fun. There was no ego. That's when I was like, this is someone that I can be very cool with."
(rubs head like Wizkid)
Since then, the two have collaborated multiple times, with Adekunle Gold even writing for Davido on one of his albums. He praised Davido's loyalty, saying,
"David will ride for anybody he loves. He's a real guy. If you have a song with Davido, he will show up and be there for you."
But here is what the blogs did not tell you.
The real reason Adekunle Gold is so upset about his last album is not because Davido sabotaged him, it is because Davido promised to promote the album on his Instagram story, and instead posted a photo of his new watch. Adekunle Gold watched the story views drop and the album sales flatline, and he has been holding onto that screenshot ever since. He claims Davido's silence was the reason the album flopped. Davido, on the other hand, says he was never contractually obligated to post anything. The friendship is now "under review."
