Shatta Wale Treated Burna Boy Like a King. Then a Rumour Ended Everything

In other news, Shatta Wale has finally opened up about why he and Burna Boy stopped being friends. And the reason is giving Nollywood scriptwriter.

( sips coffee)

The Ghanaian dancehall star sat down on The Honest Bunch Podcast and revealed that their once-close friendship collapsed because some former members of his team allegedly told Burna Boy that he had slept with Burna's girlfriend during a visit to Ghana. According to Shatta Wale, Burna Boy simply believed the rumour and cut him off without even asking for an explanation.

( opens mouth wide like Davido )

"Burna Boy heard from one of my guys that I sacked that I slept with his girlfriend," Shatta Wale claimed, adding that Burna Boy should have called him directly since they were like brothers.

Shatta Wale went all out for Burna Boy when the Nigerian superstar visited Ghana. He picked him up from the airport, gave him accommodation, provided cars, and made sure he was comfortable throughout his stay. "I was treating Burna Boy in Ghana like a king. He wasn't wasting money in Ghana," he explained.

He also revealed that Burna Boy's mother is "like my mother" because there was a time Burna had problems in Ghana, and he helped them find safety. Sources have also claimed that Shatta Wale once helped bail Burna Boy out of police custody in Ghana when he was arrested for smoking weed.

( shaking head like Ckay, hearing someone do all of this and still get cut off over a rumour )

But here is what the blogs did not tell you.

Shatta Wale's heartbreak is not just about the rumour. It is that Burna Boy did not even give him a chance to defend himself. He called, he texted, he even reached out to Burna's mother, but the African Giant had already made up his mind. "I didn't know they've told them, and he's decided not to talk to me," he lamented.

Meanwhile, the internet is having a field day. Some people are sympathising with Shatta Wale, saying Burna Boy should have verified the story. Others are pointing out that there is no smoke without fire. And a few are simply asking why this story is coming out now, years after the friendship ended.

The real tea is not about the rumour or the friendship. It is that Shatta Wale claims he did everything for Burna Boy, bailed him out, housed him, treated him like royalty, and when a rumour came up, Burna Boy ghosted him without a single conversation. In 2026, that is the kind of betrayal that makes you question every friendship you have ever had.

Edgar doesn’t lie.
