French Is Not Better Than Igbo. Daniel Regha Tells Peter P-Square to Sit Down

In other news, Daniel Regha has entered the chat, and he is not here for Peter Okoye's language take.
The controversial media personality blasted the singer after Peter P-Square sparked outrage by questioning the value of Nigerian languages. Peter had posted from Paris, gushing about his children's fluency in French and hinting at buying a home there. When a fan asked if his kids could speak Igbo, Peter replied: "And who naija language help? Make I hear word abeg".

Daniel Regha did not hold back. He declared that dismissing Igbo is insulting and that the language is just as important as French.

Peter's comment triggered a wave of backlash, with fans pointing out that he has built a career using Igbo and Yoruba in his music. Critics accused him of having an "inferiority complex" and "slave mentality" for downplaying his mother tongue while praising a foreign language.
But here is what the blogs did not tell you.
Sources close to the singer have revealed that Peter's frustration might be less about language and more about the relentless criticism he has faced over his parenting choices. The man has been defending his family's language decisions for years, and he is clearly tired of it. He later posted a series of messages telling critics to "mind your business" and "cry harder," insisting that language choices within families are personal.

Meanwhile, Daniel Regha is doing what he does best, calling out celebrities for their takes. This is not his first time dragging an Okoye family member. He previously slammed Peter Obi for visiting Paul Okoye and Jude Okoye during their family feud, calling it a "misplaced priority". The man has a track record of telling people exactly what he thinks, whether they asked or not.
( Laughs like Mavo, watching Daniel Regha become the unofficial language police )
The real tea is not about French or Igbo. It is that a singer who has made millions off his Nigerian identity just asked "who Naija language help?" And the answer is simple: it helped you get where you are today. The same fans buying your music and singing along to your Igbo lyrics are the ones you just dismissed. In 2026, that is the kind of irony that writes itself.
Davido dragged MC Oluomo over his "compose sentence" comment after the NURTW boss challenged Governor Adeleke's authority. Read here: MC Oluomo No Fit "Compose Sentence". Davido Drags Him, and the Internet Is Cackling. At least that drama was about politics. This one is about a man who forgot which language paid his bills. Listen to my podcast. Why Am I Still Single?
