DJ Chicken Is Out, But His Mouth Might Get Him Back In
In other news, DJ Chicken traded online threats for a Kirikiri VIP pass, proved a ₦1M bail requires more paperwork than a civil service job, and somehow left prison planning a TikTok series. Standard 2026 Nigerian clout economics!

DJ Chicken Is Out, But His Mouth Might Get Him Back In

( jubilating like Portable)
His lawyer, Rotimi Stephen, confirmed the release on Tuesday via Instagram Story, sharing a video appeal that basically said: "Please shut up about this case, it is in court." Meanwhile, Omoyele Sowore also announced the release on X, saying DJ Chicken had reunited with his family, friends, and loved ones.
The whole saga started when DJ Chicken shared a video saying President Tinubu must not seek re-election, otherwise his son Seyi would be killed. He quickly retracted the statement after public criticism, but the damage was done. The law caught up with him, and he was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ogba, Lagos, on a three-count charge: violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of peace, and making threats to kill.
( shakes head like M.I Abaga)

He pleaded not guilty. The court granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like sum. The conditions were not for the weak, one surety must be a civil servant, the other a community leader with landed property in Lagos. Both must provide three years' tax clearance certificates, utility bills, NIN details, and LASRRA registration. And one of them must be a blood relative.

But here is what the blogs did not tell you.

Sources close to DJ Chicken have leaked that the man spent his days in Kirikiri trying to figure out how to turn his detention into content. Apparently, he was already planning a "Day in the Life of Kirikiri" TikTok series before his lawyer told him to stop being ridiculous. The lawyer probably had to physically take his phone to prevent another viral moment from landing him back in court.
Meanwhile, the internet is divided. Some people are celebrating his release. Others are asking why he was detained in the first place for a comment he already retracted. And a few are just waiting for his next video because, let us be honest, the man is never going to learn. The court case continues on August 3, so DJ Chicken has about two weeks to behave himself. Knowing him, that is a very long time.
The real tea is not about the bail or the threats. It is that DJ Chicken spent time in Kirikiri over words he said on the internet, and somehow, he is still more famous than most people who actually went to university. In 2026, that is the kind of viral energy money cannot buy.
(Laughs like Charles Okocha watching a man turn legal trouble into a flex)
