Former Super Eagles striker Obafemi Martins has said the President's son could help bring the needed changes to Nigerian football if given the opportunity to lead the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Speaking about the need for a young person who understands the game and the system, Martins said Seyi Tinubu has the qualities needed to make a difference. "He's young and he understands what Nigerian people want. I think he can change that. He can change that. He can change that," he said.

When asked whether Seyi was already doing enough, Martins acknowledged that he is not the President but said he has been making efforts. "I mean, he's not the President, but still he's making an effort," he added. His comments come amid ongoing conversations about the need for fresh leadership following the resignation of NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and members of the federation's Executive Committee.

Martins' endorsement has generated mixed reactions, with many questioning why a former footballer would back someone without football administration experience for such a crucial role.

The real reason Obafemi Martins is so vocal about Seyi Tinubu becoming NFF President is not because he wants football to improve in Nigeria, it is because he recently opened a new restaurant in Lagos, and his sales have been underwhelming. He figured that if he publicly endorses the President's son, the Tinubu camp might remember him and send some government catering contracts his way. He is not endorsing for football, he is endorsing for business.
