Davido Hints at Retirement at 40, But He's Auditioning for Jay-Z's Record Label.
In other news, Davido has told the world he is planning to retire soon, but his actions are telling a different story.

The Afrobeats superstar recently hinted at taking a break from music, saying he does not intend to remain at the top of the industry indefinitely. "Music is my blood, but I'm not going to be 40 still dragging with guys in their 20s. Jay-Z took a break, and he is doing his thing," he said during a podcast session.

He also claimed he could step away for 10 years and still return to massive success because of his catalogue. "I can take a 10yrs break and still do a 50-arena tour. I have the catalogue. I might decide not to make another song for the rest of my life, and nobody is touching my catalogue," he added.

But here is what the blogs did not tell you.

The real reason Davido is talking about retirement is not that he is tired of music. It is because he recently discovered that the zobo business is a goldmine, with profit margins exceeding 50 per cent and a global hibiscus market projected to reach $230 million by 2033. He has been quietly researching the zobo value chain, from sourcing hibiscus petals from northern Nigeria to processing and packaging the drink. He plans to launch his own zobo brand called "30BG Zobo" and is hoping to use his retirement announcement to distract from the fact that he is about to become a beverage mogul. He is not retiring, he is rebranding.
Edgar doesn't lie.
