According to Laura, she was excited about the gift and immediately told her friends about it. However, things took a different turn when the woman began asking when she would post the bracelet on social media.
"A few days later, she sent me a message. She said, 'When are you posting it?' I'm like, posting what?"
Laura recalled.
She explained that although she would have happily flaunted such a gift in the past, she no longer felt the need to share every personal experience online.
"Before now, the Laura that I know would post that bracelet ten times and tag the person that gifted me ten times. Now, I'm very happy, but not as loud as I used to be."
She said.

Laura added that being in her late 30s and focusing on building her business had changed her attitude towards public displays of gifts and wealth.
Laura explained that she even sent the woman a photograph of herself wearing the bracelet to show her appreciation, but the disagreement continued. According to her, she eventually asked whether the woman wanted the gift returned.
"She said, 'Do whatever you want.' So automatically, I knew that she wanted her bracelet back."
Laura said.
She explained that she packaged the bracelet and sent her driver to return it.
"And that was how the friendship ended."
She concluded.

Laura Ikeji's other friends have reportedly started sending their birthday gifts with captions attached. Sources say they have been including notes like "Please post this one," "I have attached the caption for you," and "This one is not fake, I have the receipt." One friend reportedly sent a gift with a pre-written Instagram caption and a reminder to tag her three times. Laura has not responded to the captions, but her friends say she has been laughing at the notes.
