A Nigerian DJ Played Music For 300 Hours Without Stopping. We Need To Talk About The Playlist.

A Nigerian DJ Played Music For 300 Hours Without Stopping. We Need To Talk About The Playlist.

In other news, a Nigerian DJ played music for 300 hours without stopping. We need to talk about the playlist.

DJ Pretty Play has done something extraordinary. The woman stood behind a DJ booth for three hundred hours, that is twelve and a half days, without stopping, in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest DJ marathon. She is currently recovering.

I respect this woman deeply. I cannot stand in one place for three hours without my back staging a protest. This woman did three hundred. With music. In Nigeria. Where the generator can go off at any time.

(claps like Osita Iheme)

Now here is what the blogs did not tell you.

Our sources have confirmed that between hours 200 and hours 250, DJ Pretty Play, exhausted, dehydrated, and running on pure Nigerian stubbornness, decided that nobody in that room was prepared for. She played Davido's "Assurance" seventeen times in a row.

Not because she planned to. Not because it was a tribute. But because at hour 200, her brain stopped making new decisions and simply repeated the last one.

By the third replay, the crowd was confused. By the seventh, they were emotional. By the twelfth, they were calling their exes. By the seventeenth, three couples in the audience had got back together, one man had proposed to a woman he met at the event, and somebody's aunty who came to watch had started planning a wedding.

(sighs like Chiwetalu Agu)

Guinness World Records has confirmed they are reviewing the attempt. Their only concern is whether playing the same song seventeen consecutive times counts as "continuous DJing" or "emotional manipulation".

DJ Pretty Play has since been discharged from the hospital. She has not spoken publicly. Her manager says she is "resting." Her playlist says otherwise.

Edgar doesn't lie.

Source: One of the three couples who got back together during hour 212. They are still together. They have named their WiFi "Assurance". We wish them well.

If you enjoyed this story, you will also enjoy the time DJs considered banning Burna Boy's music and announced a decision that nobody saw coming. Read it here: DJs Considered Banning Burna Boy's Music. They Have Announced Their Decision. It Did Not Go The Way You Think.

And if 300 hours of music still could not find you love, join the club. Listen to my podcast, Why Am I Still Single? Available right here on checkedgar.com.
