Romance Is Dead, Long Live the N100 Million Cheque

In other news, Richard Mofe-Damijo has officially redefined what it means to be a romantic. Forget flowers. Forget chocolates. Forget all the things your boyfriend is probably not doing for you anyway.
The veteran actor sat down on The Morayo Show and dropped a truth bomb that has every woman reevaluating their relationship standards. He called himself “an incurable romantic” before casually adding, “These days, it’s never about flowers and chocolates anymore. Ladies like money now”.
( shines teeth like Fola )
And then he proved it. When he received his first ever N100 million cheque, the biggest of his career, he did not buy a car. He did not invest in property. He handed it straight to his wife.

When his wife received the cheque, she asked the most Nigerian wife question imaginable: “You want me to keep it for your children?” RMD’s response was iconic. “No, keep it for yourself”.

The 65-year-old actor also reflected on life and ageing, revealing that he sees every year as a blessing because his parents did not live to see 60. “My life is one of gratitude. I’m happy to be alive,” he said.
When asked about his youthful appearance, he credited healthy living and a mindset that refuses to age. “The only way for an old person to stay young is to never let the old person in”. His eldest child is 43 and still hisses at his outfits. But RMD is not giving up. “There’s no way I’m going to give up”.
( laughs like Olamide, watching a 65-year-old man dress better than most 25-year-olds )
But here is what the blogs did not tell you.

Sources close to the actor have leaked that the N100 million cheque was just the beginning. RMD reportedly makes it a point to gift his wife the biggest things he can afford so she never has to ask him for anything. Her love language is gifts, and he speaks it fluently. While most men are debating whether to buy a ₦50,000 bag for their partner, RMD is handing over eight-figure cheques like they are birthday cards.
The man is also a fashion enthusiast. His wife reportedly calls his wardrobe “shameless” because he probably has more clothes than she does. At 65, he is out-dressing men half his age and handing his wife millions. Meanwhile, other men are still arguing about who pays for the Uber.
The real tea is not about the cheque or the romance. It is that RMD just told the internet that real love is not about petals and chocolates, it is about trust, partnership, and a N100 million cheque with no strings attached. In 2026, that is the kind of love that makes every other man look like they are not even trying.
Edgar doesn't lie.
