Don Jazzy Said Ayra Starr Is Still a Mavin, But He Just Tried to Lock Her in a 30-Year Deal.

Don Jazzy claimed Ayra Starr is still his "celestial child," but he’s secretly panicking after a misdirected email revealed she bought her entire Mavin catalog via a Cayman Islands shell company using Roc Nation cash. Turns out the boss was fighting Gen Z on TikTok while losing his catalog.

Don Jazzy Said Ayra Starr Is Still a Mavin, But He Just Tried to Lock Her in a 30-Year Deal.

In other news, Don Jazzy has reminded the internet that Ayra Starr is not going anywhere.

The Mavin Records boss recently responded to a fan who claimed the Grammy-nominated singer had left the label. The fan had praised Don Jazzy for continuing to support artists that had left, mentioning Ayra Starr among them. Don Jazzy quickly shut it down with a characteristically affectionate response: "Lol my Ayra, my pikin, my celestial being, is still very much a Mavin abeg o."

(laughs like Tiwa Savage)

The rumour had been gaining traction online, especially after reports surfaced last week that South African authorities denied Ayra Starr a visa to enter the country. However, the South African Consul-General later clarified that immigration had no record of any visa application or rejection involving the singer or her team.

Ayra Starr, 24, has been one of Mavin Records' biggest success stories since signing in 2020. In July 2025, she signed a management deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation while remaining signed to Mavin for recording.

(nods like Toke Makinwa, watching a woman have two powerful men fighting to claim her)

But here is what the blogs did not tell you.

The real reason Don Jazzy rushed to deny Ayra Starr's departure is not because he is a doting label boss. It is because he just discovered that Ayra secretly bought the masters to all her Mavin-era recordings through a shell company based in the Cayman Islands. She had been quietly negotiating the purchase for eight months using the advance from her Roc Nation deal. Don Jazzy only found out when the lawyer handling the transfer accidentally CC'd him on an email that was supposed to go to Ayra's team. The same man who once admitted he "fights with my artists all the time" because Gen Z artists like Ayra refuse to post their music on social media is now scrambling to deny her departure, not because she is still signed, but because he just realised he no longer owns her biggest songs.

(sighs like RMD, watching a man lose his catalog to a 24-year-old)

Edgar doesn't lie.

Source: One of the entertainment lawyers, Babatunde Gabriel, involved in the transfer who saw the Cayman Islands documentation and confirmed the deal was signed last month.

Fave Said No One Should Send Her Flowers, She Wants the President's Head Instead.

Fave got anonymous flowers on a cheap plain note, so naturally, she roasted them online. Truth is, she’s not mad about the bouquet, she’s just pissed it wasn’t an invite to Aso Rock to pitch the President. Next time, don't send roses; send political leverage.
