In other news, Tomike Adeoye has sparked a conversation that has left many Nigerians questioning something they have never thought twice about, and the revelation has now hit closer to home.
The media personality recently shared her frustration over the common practice of discouraging children from using their left hands. She recounted an experience with her son's lesson teacher, who told him;
"Put the pencil on your right hand, don't use your left hand."

"I just said, 'Ah, ma, please. So he uses left, he uses right. I want him to continue as long as he can continue,'" Tomike said. She questioned the logic behind the practice, asking, "Why use only one hand when you can use both?"
She added that she did not know who started the rule or the idea behind it.
"Who made the rules that they should not use their left hand? They should use their right hand? I don't know if it is a culture thing. Why is it that when children are using their left hands, you will say, 'No, you must use your right?' I even heard that lefties are smarter."
She concluded that as long as her son is writing what he is supposed to write, it should not matter which hand he uses.
"If tomorrow he wakes up and says his right hand, please, let him use the right hand. As long as he's writing what he's supposed to be writing, that's all that matters."

Tomike has reportedly just found out that her own mother is left-handed. Sources say she discovered it during a family conversation when her mother casually mentioned that she was forced to use her right hand as a child. Tomike was stunned and asked, "Mummy, you too?" Her mother reportedly laughed and said, "They beat it out of me." Tomike has now made it her mission to ensure her son does not go through the same thing. She is not just questioning the tradition, she is uncovering her own family history.
