The Ice Cream That Melted Into a Full-Blown War

In other news, the man who makes a living critiquing how other people eat has just learned that the plate can turn.

Opeyemi Famakin, Nigeria's self-proclaimed biggest food critic, posted a video of himself eating ice cream. Nothing unusual there. Except this man was eating straight out of a large multi-serving tub with a massive tablespoon, sticking his tongue far out to lick it like he had not seen ice cream in years.

The same man who has built a brand on ruthlessly critiquing the dining manners of others was out here committing every ice cream sin in the book.

Fekomi saw the video and decided to give Opeyemi a taste of his own medicine. He recorded a polite but hilariously detailed "educational" response, schooling Ope on what he called "aesthetic nutrition" and "table mannerisms".

He started by teasingly correcting pronunciation: "The 'L' in salmon is silent, for educational purposes". Then he went in. He explained that eating directly out of a shared multi-serving tub is unhygienic. He pointed out that the mouth carries microbacteria, and double-dipping a massive tablespoon transfers bacteria back into the tub, rendering the remaining ice cream unhealthy for anyone else.

But here is what the blogs did not tell you.

That ice cream video was just the beginning. What started as a playful table-turning critique quickly escalated into a wider social media feud involving nightlife promoter Yhemolee. You see, Opeyemi's history of public criticism had already made him enemies. When he later reviewed Yhemolee's wife's perfume, a ₦160,000 fragrance, and gave it a 7.5 out of 10 while pointing out packaging flaws, Yhemolee lost it.

Yhemolee called him a "fat fool," accused him of bitterness over a rejected ₦6 million paid review offer, and questioned why he would demean his wife's brand. The feud got so messy that Opeyemi later claimed he was receiving threatening messages from alleged cultists, asking, "Do they want to Mohbad me?".

The real tea is not about the ice cream or the perfume. It is that Opeyemi Famakin spent years dishing out criticism to everyone else, but when the tables turned and he became the subject of critique, first from Fekomi, then from Yhemolee, the man could not handle it. The critic became the criticised. And the internet is still laughing.
