Davido Wants to Start Acting, he Already Spent the Documentary Budget on Custom Crowns.

Davido conquered music and decided Nollywood is next. He’s producing movies, dropping a "huge" documentary, and comparing album rollouts to new iPhones. Rumour has it he saw B-Red get movie clout and wants that USD paycheck before anyone realizes he can't act. If it flops? Blame the director!

In Other news, Davido has decided that music is no longer enough and has announced plans to conquer Nollywood.

The Afrobeats superstar revealed in a recent interview with Vibe Q that he wants to get into acting, saying he has already invested in two movies as an executive producer. He also disclosed that a documentary about his life and career is coming soon, describing it as "very, very big". The singer noted that he has made cameo appearances in the past, including in Toyin Abraham's ‘’Fate of Alakada’’ and Eddie Murphy's ‘’Coming 2 America’’.

His plans include co-executive producing movies with his long-term collaborator, cinematographer Dammy Twitch, who recently directed the Nollywood hit ‘’Call of My Life’’. Davido also compared music to technology, saying, "Apple every year, they're bringing out a new iPhone. That's the same way I look at music".

But here is what the blogs did not tell you.

The real reason Davido wants to start acting is that he watched his cousin, B-Red, star in a Nollywood movie last year and saw how much attention it got him. Davido realised that music is becoming too predictable, drop an album, go on tour, win awards, repeat. Acting offers something new: red carpets, movie premieres, and a whole new audience that doesn't know he can't act. He also heard that actors get paid in dollars and don't have to tour for months. The documentary is just his way of testing the waters before he fully commits. If the documentary gets good reviews, he is going all in. If it flops, he will blame the director and go back to music.

Edgar doesn't lie.
