Asherkine Was Stopped at UNILAG for Filming, He Was Also Banned From Graduating for Missing Hostel Dues in 2019.

Asherkine thought alumni status meant free Wi-Fi and unlimited UNILAG film permits, but security turned his shoot into a four-year-long manhunt for a 2021 TikTok fire alarm incident. Now he’s ₦50,000 poorer, escorted off campus, and learning that past campus sins never truly expire!

In other news, Asherkine has learned that being an alumnus does not mean you own the school's Wi-Fi.

Popular content creator Asherkine recently shared his experience after he was stopped by officials at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) for filming on campus without permission. In a video shared online, the influencer alleged that he was taken to the Student Affairs office and later escorted by security officials over the shoot. Expressing his frustration, he said, "That's why I don't come here. It's my school too, but that's why I don't come."

He also claimed he has never experienced similar treatment while filming in other schools, adding that the incident explains why he rarely creates content at UNILAG. The university has maintained a policy requiring individuals to secure permission before carrying out commercial or social media filming on campus, a directive introduced in October 2025 to curb disruptions to academic activities.

But here is what the blogs did not tell you.

The real reason Asherkine was stopped is not about permission at all. It is because UNILAG officials recognised him as the student who once accidentally set off the school's fire alarm during a live TikTok video in 2021. They had been searching for him ever since, and when he showed up on campus, they seized the opportunity to finally get an apology. The security escort was not because of filming, it was a four-year-long manhunt that ended in the Student Affairs office. Asherkine still insists the fire alarm was not his fault, but the school has already repaired the system and billed him ₦50,000.

Edgar doesn't lie.
